To maximise your Adsense income, try to keep to these parameters.
1) Always try to have a large 728x90 Leaderboard ad just underneath website logo or banner.
2) Blend your ads as much as possible for neatness. Do not try to make the ad stand out. Use your website colours for the backgrounds and fonts for the ad.
3) Monitor the low paying clicks and find out which ads they are. Then filter them out.
4) Try and find a similar site to yours that has good Adsense ads. Use the url of that site as an alternate source for ads instead of public ads (public ads do not pay you any income for clicks).
5) Try to fit in a Google search button with a field. Make it seem part of the site so it looks natural.
