I'm sure there's many variations to this tutorial, but I find this one works the best.

Step 1: Select the part you want to CF - in the image below I selected the hood.

Step 2: Copy (Ctrl-C) and paste (Ctrl-V) into a new layer. Then Desaturate the layer by going to Image->Adjustment->Desaturate or Shft-Ctrl-U

Step 3: Create a new Layer (Layer->New). Press Ok when the box appears. Fill the layer with Herringbone 2 pattern by going to Edit->Fill and indicate Use: Pattern, then select the Herringbone 2 from the custom pattern dropdown menu.

Now apply Filter->Distort->Twirl and select a value of 50.

Step 4: Compress the new layer by going to Edit->Transform->Scale. What you need to do is to make the CF pattern look more smooth. I found it works best if your keep the middle part of the layer (the circle) covering the area where the hood is.

To compress the layer, click on the placeholders found on the middle of each of the 4 side edges and move towards the center of the layer. You may have to also move the layer around so it's just over the hood.

Step 5: Ctrl-Click on the desaturated hood layer (in this case layer 1) to make the hood your selection, then click back onto the CF layer, and copy the selection (CTRL-C)

Step 6: Paste (CTRL-V) what you copied from Step 5 onto a new layer and delete the original CF layer - the layer that has the CF pattern in it.

Order of layers should be as in the pic. Background on bottom, then desaturated hood, then CF hood on top.

Step 7: Change the blending mode of this latest layer (the CF layer) to Overlay.

Step 8: Open the Hue/Saturation box (Image->Adjustment->Hue/Saturation or Ctrl-U) and decrease the Lightness value. It's different for different images. In this one, I used a value of -80

And there you have it. Now you have a fibar hood. And that is the end of my tutorial for today.

More to come soon by me here!!
